Join “The Tea Set” at Hotel du Vin & Bistro in the Whisky Snug; an elegant yet relaxed spot to indulge in quality time with good friends old and new. Sample some outstandingly good infusions served by our expertly schooled Tea Sommelier to complement tempting towers of pastries, finger sandwiches and deliciously creamy scones.
Prices start from £11 per person with a range to suit all including Champagne, Cocktails and our fabulous “G & Tea”. Available daily from 2pm - 5pm.
The original side of the building was the City’s poor house and lunatic asylum. The existing old stone building has been converted into large feature rooms with high ceilings, exposed brick work and, on the top floor, exposed rafters. This boutique hotel consists of 47 bedrooms some with large walk in showers and free-standing Victorian roll-top baths, very typical of the Hotel du Vin style but the colour schemes have an Edinburgh Scottish twist. The property also boasts a Chef’s Table just off the hotel’s Bistro, a Mezzanine level Bar, a Cigar Bothy, a Whisky Snug and a Laroche Wine Tasting room. Robert Fergusson, the poet spent two years in the asylum and died there at the age of 24. He famously was the inspiration for Robert Burns to start writing and Robert Burns paid for a head stone for him after his death as he died a pauper. |
